About the Role

Ntantiso Operations is seeking an experienced Scrub Ophthalmology Registered Nurse to join a reputable private healthcare facility in Johannesburg for a fixed-term locum assignment.
The successful candidate will assist in ophthalmic surgical procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique and ensuring optimal patient outcomes throughout the perioperative process.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile environment in the ophthalmic theatre.

• Assist surgeons during eye-related procedures (including cataract and retinal surgeries).

• Ensure surgical instruments and consumables are correctly prepared, handled, and sterilised.

• Support the surgical team by anticipating needs during operations.

• Comply with infection control standards and theatre safety protocols.

• Conduct post-operative checks and assist in patient recovery when required.

• Collaborate effectively with theatre staff and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (General) with valid SANC registration.

• Minimum 2 years’ theatre experience with proven ophthalmic scrub exposure.

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic surgical equipment and procedures.

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and within strict timeframes.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Availability for the full duration of the contract (3–28 November 2025).
